Suit Up! is a program started by a teacher at Gordon Bell High School in Winnipeg, Canada. As an inner-city public school, many of the boys in grade 12 couldn’t afford to purchase formalwear for their graduation. Since the Gowns for Grads program was already in place for the girls, this teacher took it upon herself to find gently used suits and tuxedos for the men. J.A. Shapira is proud to serve as a volunteer and chairman of the board of directors for this outstanding organization.
An initiative we started in 2017 after learning that handwriting is no longer part of the school curriculum. Each year, one teacher in Canada will be chosen for their dedication and willingness to continue teaching handwriting in the school. Their class will receive a fountain pen for each child, a special fine writing instrument for them, and an assortment of ink, high-quality paper, and a selection of other accessories for the class to enjoy.
Congratulations to Ms. Fraser’s grade 5/6 class at Mulvey School in Winnipeg.
